A friend of mine had a bought rabbits, she always wanted a dog, but then had to settle for a rabbit and no amount of dissaproval, me trying to drill sense helped. Then my bro went ahead and bought an aquarium, everytime i took a look at it I felt sense of feeling trapped, guilt and desire to let them free. All i saw when i looked at them was they were in a cage, no matter how big or how beautiful and how many others they had for company. I remember reading in some literature book in school tht freedom was prized the most....Would you accept a so called beautiful life without having freedom? i guess many of us do in some ways and the question of wht really is freedom would also come up....
and the captor always had some fancy logical explanation for keeping one under captivity, my frnd's was tht they were better off and happier at with her at her place than with the shopkeeper who wouldnt feed tham properly....but in this dont we forget tht demand fuels supply? the more u buy the more they trap and the more they have for u to buy....how do we break the chain?

I share the same thoughts...what right do we have to cage animals and birds for our pleasure!! Y shud we have zoos.
Nature wanted them to be free.
regarding the logic of your friend, and your counter logic of creating demand...reminds me of similar logic given by someone. He said when he bought the meat, the goat was already dead,,he didnt kill it and if he didnt eat it, somebody else wud have.....lop sided argument.
In fact as the days go by, I feel more and more guilty abt the milk and milk products I consume. The cow produces in her body for its own child and we steal it.
Thousands of bees work their whole life to collect honey, and we just steal it from them!!
Just imagine if there were a specie who does similar act ...stealing human milk!! We humans wud have produced the deadliest of insecticide/ pesticide to wipe it out from earth.
Why do we humans think that this planet and all its creatures are made for us to consume and enjoy!!
Then I get selfish and think life would be so difficult without milk and its products.
I guess meat eaters will advance similar reasons!!
Beautifully put and i wanna say tht while i was writing this entry i kept thinking of the logic tht patriarchy comes up with for treating women the way tht they do (i knw!! those who hav knwn me for a while or even the ones who ve read my blog will be rolling thier eyes)
I am reminded of some line in the movie Matrix tht the Agent was making about how humans had destroyed the plants(wish i cud recall them)
